What is your teaching philosophy?
"I believe in my role preparing students for the rest of their lives. Therefore, whether it is the analysis and problem-solving skills that can be attained from AP US History or the community engagement that comes from America Decides, I want students to leave my classroom with real-world skills and understanding that can help them be a positive force in the world."
Can you tell us about a memorable student?
"My favorite story of all time was when a current student in America Decides met a former student from America Decides while volunteering for a political campaign event. You hope that students take what they learn with them forever, so it was great to see the current and former students sharing that experience!"
What is your favorite part of being a teacher?
"I enjoy being a part of students' journey in education. I feel like I'm serving an important role every day!"
What is the biggest challenge you face as a teacher?
"Being "locked in" every day! The physicality of teaching can get overwhelming. Again, this is why it is crucial to be driven by external motivators."
