Our Initiatives

Each high school selects its own initiative for Teacher Appreciation Week. Students have previously coordinated school-wide appreciation letter writing for teachers and gifted sweet treats. (Photos are from the BVN "Write a Letter to your Teacher" campaign.)

Exceptional educators, nominated by their students, are recognized during American Education Week. In 2024-25, we hope to expand this campaign with sponsorship of a cash award and host an awards ceremony.

Our Stock the Teacher's Break Room event is hosted by students annually to recognize the extraordinary contributions of teachers. Students fundraise and use donations to purchase snacks, drinks, and coffee supplies to stock the teachers' break room.

Celebrating teachers before the holidays is fun for all! Students raise money from parents, student fundraisers, and sponsors to donate $50 Amazon Gift Cards to fund high school teachers’ classroom wishlists. The in-person drawing happens at the December all-staff meeting; names are drawn randomly. Students give 100% of the money raised and work hard to give as many gift cards as possible.
